1. The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), says it is already seeking ways to address the rape allegations raised by celebrity photographer, Busola Dakolo, against the Senior Pastor, Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.
CAN’s acting General-Secretary, Joseph Daramola, in a statement released in Abuja, on Sunday, appealed to both parties to sheath their swords and stop the media war in the interest of the church and for the greater glory of God.
2. The National Council for Women Society (NCWS), FCT Chapter, on Sunday rejected the apology tendered by Sen. Elisha Abbo, for assaulting a nursing mother in an Abuja adult toy shop recently.
The FCT Chairman of NCWS, Mrs Hadiza Umar, while briefing newsmen in Abuja, advocated for stiffer punishment for Abbo to serve as deterrent to others who assault women in workplace, shops or markets.
3. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday signed the Agreement Establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at the opening of the 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of State and Gov on #AfCFTA in Niamey, Niger.
His personal assistant (photography), Sunday Aghaeze, made the disclosure on Twitter.
4. Following recent appointments announced by the presidency, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday berated President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for alleged insensitivity to the welfare of the people of the country.
It also alleged that Buhari had abandoned Nigerians to their fate and was only interested in the appointment of aides to serve his immediate personal comfort and necessities.
5. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has described his reappointment as a humbling experience and a call for rededication.
The SGF, who spoke to newsmen on Sunday at the Yola International Airport on his way back to Abuja after a weekend visit to Adamawa State, said he found his reappointment to be both thrilling and challenging.
6. A group, the Arewa Defenders Forum, ADF, has thrown its support to the Coalition of Northern Youths’ stand on the need to have the Ruga settlements in the country.
The forum said the need for the Ruga settlement was to reduce the mobility of cattle breeders, so that the terrorists sponsored to destabilize the North would finally be exposed.
7. Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has warned of an impending plague in Nigeria if the shedding of innocent blood in the country continues.
Adeboye said this during the Church’s July Holy Ghost Service held Friday night at the Redemption Camp and broadcast in the church’s parishes in Nigeria and 197 other countries.
8. The Coalition of Civil Society on Conflict Resolution and Human Rights in Nigeria has rubbished the recent report by the United Nations about corruption in Nigeria, describing it as a written script to favour Islamic terrorists and some looters.
The coalition said the report of the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations was not at best a reflection of the issues on the ground as it concerns high level of corruption, killings, and human rights violations.
9. Brazil have won the 2019 Copa America, after they beat Peru 3-1 in Sunday’s final at the legendary Maracana Stadium.
It is the first time they have won the competition since 2007.
10. The General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet Temitope Balogun, TB, Joshua, has urged Nigerians to specially pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and the country.
The cleric advised that the prayers be directed towards ensuring that God grants the president wisdom in directing the affairs of the country
