The Peoples’ Democratic Party, Osun State chapter has accused the state Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, of planning to divert fund from Paris Club deductions meant to settle outstanding salaries of workers and pension of retirees in the state. In a press statement signed by PDP’s spokesperson, Prince Diran Odeyemi in Osogbo on Sunday, the party said instead of paying workers’ full salaries, Aregbesola opted for half pay for senior workers and 75% for others.
8.No fewer than 18 persons have been reportedly killed and many others declared missing in an ongoing violent clash between Tiv and Fulani in Sabon Gidan village of Dan Anacha, Taraba State. Report says the crisis started on Saturday when two herdsmen were found killed in a bush. The development led to reprisal attacks on Tiv by the herdsmen.
9. The Rivers State governor, Mr Nyesom Wike, has said that the government and people of the state will not support the ongoing police investigation on the just concluded Rivers elections, adding that the Police cannot kill Rivers people in cold blood and turn around to investigate same. He said the aim of the probe was to falsely indict PDP members in the state.
10. In an effort to curb violence in the state, the Kaduna State Government has banned all forms of procession and unlawful assemblies. The state government issued a strong warning, yesterday, saying anyone who breaches the ban would be dealt with in accordance with the law. It asked all citizens to support the success of the ban.
