1. 10 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were on Sunday reportedly killed at Abaji area of Kastina Ala local government area of Benue State by unknown gunmen.
The CJTF members were having a meeting at Tse-Igber village in Abaji community when gunmen stormed the venue on a motorcycle and opened fire.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday paid special tributes to the Nigerian troops currently battling Boko Haram sect in Sambisa forest as well as some special troops on peacekeeping in Liberia.
Buhari, who addressed the officers via separate video conferences to commemorate this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, urged the Nigerian troops to maintain the standard of discipline and efficiency.
3. The Federal Government has called on members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, to join the search for the missing Chibok girls who are believed to be camped by the Boko Haram sect in Sambisa Forest, Borno State.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in a letter addressed to the convener of the group, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, said it goes beyond protesting on the street of Abuja with placards.
4. The kidnappers of students and members of staff of the Nigeria Turkish International College (NTIC) have placed N1.2bn ransom tag on the victims.
The abductors reportedly called a family member of one of the victims, who were abducted at about 9:30pm on Friday to make the demand.
5. Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, has admitted that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has not been captured despite the recent onslaught on the Sambisa forest.
According to Buratai, Shekau and other kingpins of Boko Haram commanders fled the forest, as they could not withstand the superior firepower of the Nigerian Army.
6. The Nigerian troops of 112 Task Force Battalion, 22 Brigade, Nigerian Army on Operation LAFIYA DOLE, during the weekend, conducted joint operations with vigilantes and civilian JTF in suspected Boko Haram terrorists’ hideouts in their area of responsibility.
The troops in the latest operation neutralized 8 terrorists and rescued several victims.
7. The Offices of the Vice President and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation have been accused of wrongfully sacking Mrs Maryam Danna, a top shot at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
Mrs Danna, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (FCIT), who was removed in controversial circumstances, was one of the NDPHC General Managers.
8. The Christian, Association of Nigeria, CAN, on Sunday slammed Presdient Muhammadu Buhari for introducing policies that lack human faces.
The Christian body said the recent ban on some foreign goods and the devaluation of the currency implemented by the government lacked human face, saying that the Federal Government should stop the killings and destruction of farms by the Fulani herdsmen across the nation.
9. The Nigeria Labour Congress has said Nigerians will not take another fuel price increase in view of the harsh economic situation in the country.
The General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, said the government should review its policy on subsidy that led to the increase in the fuel pump price from N97 to N145 per litre last year.
10. A member of the Senate Unity Forum, a group within the All Progressives Congress senators in the red chamber, Senator Kabir Marafa, has once again called on the embattled Deputy Senate Presdient, Ike Ekweremadu to defect to the ruling APC to save him from being impeached.
According to him, the only condition that would make him remain in power was to dump his party for the APC.
