1. At least 10 persons, including a traditional ruler have been killed and several others injured after suspected herdsmen attacked a community in Benue State.

The attack occurred in Mkgovur village, in Buruku local government area.

The incident has rendered many residents of Buruku and neighbouring Gboko local government areas homeless.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari has informed the leaderships of the two chambers of the National Assembly of his return to the country from London, United Kingdom.

The president, who denied the report of impending cabinet reshuffle, assured the lawmakers of his readiness to resume his official duties.

3. Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) has claimed that the controversial Malabu oil Block Agreement was endorsed by the previous administrations of Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan. Adoke in a letter to his successor, Malami asked him to explain to Nigerians how the deal started.

4. The Debt Management Office has revealed that the servicing of Nigeria’s domestic debt gulped N1.23tn in 2016.

The DMO said the highest interest payment of N839.79bn was made on funds borrowed using the instrument of FGN Bonds.

5. President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Jamila Shu’ara.

This will make it the second of such an extension for Shu’ara, whose tenure expired in February 2016, when she turned 60 years. She got a presidential extension to remain in service up to February 2017.

6. Senator representing Lagos West, Solomon Adeola, has ordered the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd) to resign his appointment if he cannot wear the Customs uniform.

The lawmaker said it was regrettable that a retired army colonel who should know the importance of uniforms wants to demean and undermine the symbolic importance of uniforms, stressing that if he is too big to wear uniform, he should kindly take a bow.

7. The Nigerian Army during the weekend rescued 211 civilians held captive by the Boko Haram insurgents at Cingal Murye and Maja villages in Northern Borno.

The troops of 22 Brigade Garrison, Operation Lafiya Dole, rescued the victims during an operation in the villages and recovered some explosive devices from the terrorists’ den.

8. The Nigerian Navy has sacked one Naval personnel after he was found in possession of 14.5 kilogrammes of Indian Hemp (cannabis sativa).

The officer was dismissed after he was arrested with the substance, summarily tried, and found guilty of the offence.

9. The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, led by Uchenna Madu, yesterday, affirmed that the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai was already jittery of its success.

MASSOB said the statement by Buratai that Biafra will never come to reality proved his frustration and jittery on Biafra’s consciousness and reality.

10. An Airforce personnel, Aircraft Man (ACM), Kalu B.A. Sunday morning shot his female colleague dead.

He reportedly carried out the act over claims that she was cheating on him. The incident occurred at the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) base in Makurdi, Benue State capital.
