1. Nigerians yesterday joined the rest of the world to mark this year’s Easter celebration. Easter is the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ among Christians. President Buhari and other prominent Nigerians in their message to Nigerians urged them to always remember the pains Jesus went through to save humanity from sin.
2. All is now set for the reopening of the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. According to the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), commercial activities would resume at the airport today, April 17.
3. Founder and General Overseer of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Private Elijah has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of introducing corruption into Nigerian churches. According to him, Obasanjo took the action when he invited eminent politicians and personalities into his church in Ogun State, to donate heavily to the church.
4. Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) has called on Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to present evidence of ownership of the $43.4m, £27,000 and N23m (about N13bn) uncovered in a house in Ikoyi, Lagos, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission last Wednesday. Sagay said Wike’s claim that the cash belonged to the Rivers State Government would not be taken seriously if he has no evidence to back it up.
5. The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria has sealed about 264 medicine stores in Enugu, Enugu State. The outlets that were closed include 52 pharmacy shops and 212 patent medicine stores. The outlets were sealed for failing to comply with the stipulated standards required for dispensing drugs to members of the public

The police in Katsina State said it has commenced investigation into the attack on the Governor of the state, Bello Masari, the Senator representing Katsina South, Abu Ibrahim, and a member representing Bakori/Danja in the House of Representatives, Amiru Tukur, by some Katsina youths on Saturday. It said anyone involved in the attacks would be brought to book,
7. A suspected child thief, Chibueze Nwaozuzu, has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command for allegedly stealing a six-year-old girl and selling her for N200,000. Nwaozuzu allegedly stole the child and sold her to one Comfort Umunnakwe.
8. Suspected gunmen have shot dead the newly sworn in Ukanafun Local Government Area Secretary, Mr. Ime Atakpa (aka Strong). Ime was shot dead on Sunday on his farm, close to a boys’ quarters in his house in Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom State.
9. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammad, on Sunday revealed how looters of public funds now bury money in cemeteries and in deep forests. According to, Mohammed, the whistle-blower policy had led to the recovery of looted funds in many currencies that might not have been discovered.
10. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the country on the recently recovered $43m. SERAP said such would resolve doubts among Nigerians, who were already doubting the anti-corruption war of the president.
