1. Former President, Goodluck Jonathan has said he didn’t declare his asset publicly while in power, because it was not the right thing to do as President. Jonathan made this claim in a book titled ‘Against The Run of Play’ written by Olusegun Adeniyi. He argued that declaring his assets publicly, could not reduce corruption in the country or change things in the country.
2. Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, who was arrested on Sunday will remain in custody for further investigation. According to Kayode Aderanti, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 1, Kano State who spoke through the Public Relations Officer, Zone 1, DSP Sambo Sokoto, Lamido was invited by the police after he allegedly made an inciting comment over the coming council election in the state.
3. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has said that the lawmakers were committed to passing a new minimum wage bill. Dogara made this known in a statement released on Sunday to mark the 2017 Workers’ Day. The statement was signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassa.
4. Osun State Government has said it will investigated the demise of Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke. According to a statement issued by the Government in Osogbo on Sunday, an inquest to unravel the circumstances of the unfortunate and sad incident, would be set up in order to put the record straight on his death.
5. Chelsea’s place in next season’s UEFA Champions League has been officially confirmed, following their 3-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday. The three goals were all scored in the second half, as the hosts held down Antonio Conte’s men in the first 45 minutes.
6. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has named the governor of Ekiti state, Ayode Fayose the governor of Biafra. This was contained in a statement issued and signed by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful. According to the report, Fayose was honoured in respect to the support and concern he showed during Nnamdi Kanu’s trial and circumstances that led to his bail.
7. A driver suspected to be purchasing fuel and food items for Boko Haram insurgents, Mallam Modu Mustapha, has been arrested by men of the Borno Police Command. Speaking in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Sunday, the State Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu said the suspect was arrested following a tip-off.
8. The management of the University of Lagos, Akoka, on Sunday confirmed that a 100-level student of Business Administration, Ayomide Ariyibi, committed suicide. The Deputy Registrar, UNILAG, Toyin Adebule, disclosed that the student killed herself at home by allegedly drinking insecticide after she was accused of stealing a roommate’s makeup kit that was found in her bag.
9. Report says a former youth leader in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers, Isaac Obe, and another unnamed person have been killed by suspected cultists, who stormed Alode community and unleashed mayhem. It was gathered that the incident, which happened at about 7pm on Saturday, made Alode youths to protest the action of the suspected cultists.
10. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a syndicate in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, which erected a radio mast to hack the Virtual Private Network of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB. The report one of those arrested says was a proprietor of one Bright Technologies, who confessed to have collected N600,000 for the deal.
