1. President Muhammadu Buhari, Sunday night jetted out to London, the United Kingdom for medical follow up. The president said his vice, Yemi Osinbajo will act as president while he is away.
2. Shortly before his depaprture to UK on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari met with the 82 Chibok girls released by the Boko Haram sect. However, newsmen were barred from covering the event as outcome of the meeting with the freed girls still remain unknown.
3. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned Nigerians to stop creating unnecessary tension over the health of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former Lagos governor called on Nigerians to rather pray for the ailing president and stop using his health to score cheap political gains.
4. Elder statesman and former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Prof. Tam David-West, has called on his ‘friend’ President Muhammadu Buhari to kick some corrupt people out of his government.
West said although the President is clean, his government is dominated by corrupt persons, adding that they needed to be flushed out.
5. The family of Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has rejected the coroner inquest set up by Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola into the death of the first civilian governor of the state, Isiaka Adeleke.
The family said the outcome of the inquest had been predetermined and that there was no need to dig deep into the demise of Adeleke.
6. The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has set aside May 22 as Biafra Independence Day across the country.
MASSOB, while calling on all Igbos worldwide to join in the celebration, noted that this year’s celebration would be held for seven days, promising that the exercise throughout the period would be violent-free.
7. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the release of 82 Chibok girls by Boko Haram as a script written by the presidency to divert attention of Nigerians from President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.
Fayose said Buhari resorted to “flying dubious kites and selling cheap dummies” to distract the people, insisting that the Chibok girls were never abducted in the first place.
8. Former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has finally been freed from detention by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Suswam was released Sunday evening, after the security agency held him for over 70 days, citing that he would be of a security threat to Benue State Government, if he was freed.
9. The Northern Youth Leaders’ Forum has slammed the 19 northern governors for not doing enough to protect President Muhammadu Buhari.
The group observed that Buhari had been left on his own since the controversy on the issues surrounding his health and well being began, adding that instead of informing their citizens about the true situation surrounding the President, the governors were only fighting for their pocket.
10. Former Minster of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed disappointment in the erstwhile minister of defence (state), Musiliu Obanikoro over his decision to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Fani-Kayode said the development annoys and saddens him, bearing in mind that Obanikoro would now join the league of those unleashing untold hardship on Nigerians.
