1. President Muhammadu Buhari in a nationwide broadcast on Monday declared that the unity of Nigeria remains sacrosanct.
He stated that terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that the majority of Nigerians can live in peace and safety.
2. A Principal Special Assistant to Governor Samuel of Ortom of Benue State on Knowledge Economy and Investments, Tavershima Adyorough has been murdered.
Adyorough was murdered Sunday morning in his residence at BIPC Estate Nyiman, Makurdi by unknown gunmen, who also shot his wife.
3. An explosive device suspected to be planted by Boko Haram militants has killed two persons, injuring three others along Damaturu – Biu road, in Yobe state.
The incident happened closed to Azare village, located 5 kilometers to Buni-gari town, at around 4:45pm on Sunday.
4. The Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi, has disclosed that plans are in top gear to bring back political heavyweights like former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and former vice-president, Atiku Abubakar to the party.
Makarfi stated that a peace committee has been inaugurated at national and zonal levels to that effect with the hope that the trio would return to the former ruling party.
5. Kogi State Government has declared (today) Monday, 21st August, 2017 as Public Holiday and Thanksgiving Day over the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Governor Yahaya Bello who stated this through his Director General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo in a statement said the day will be used to thank the Almighty God for the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari in sound health and mind.
6. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr Nnamdi Kanu has stated that he has not shelved his stand to boycott Anambra governorship election.
Kanu vowed that there will be no election in the whole of Biafra land, saying that they have taken it as a point of duty to restore Biafra without war.
7. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will meet today, to debate on the offers made by the Federal Government last Thursday in Abuja.
Members of the union are expected to decide whether or not to accept the offers made during the meeting.
8. Lagos State Government has confirmed the death of nine persons in a boat mishap which occurred on Sunday in Ilashe area.
A statement by the Managing Director of Lagos State Waterways Authority, Engr. Abisola Kamson, attributed the accident to overloading of passengers on a Banana Boat and operation of illegal jetty.
9. Over 100 Yoruba groups will on September 7 take a definite position on Nigeria’s restructuring.
The meeting scheduled to hold in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, would also address the issues bothering on secession agitations, among others.
10. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, to inform Nigerians when he plans to commit suicide now that President Muhammadu Buhari is back in Nigeria.
MURIC reminded Nigerians that Fayose allegedly promised to commit suicide if Buhari returns to Nigeria alive.
