1. Renowned rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has written to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN), demanding the release of a certified true copy of the electronic database of records of arrests made by all law enforcement agencies.

He also wrote to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, requesting the CJN to ensure proper monitoring of criminal cases in Nigeria under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015.

2. Former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday’s described Buhari as unfit to rule.

Reno Omokri queried what time President Buhari has to govern since doctors ordered him to sleep longer hours.

3. The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA on Thursday welcomed another 257 Nigerian returnee from Libya after receiving 157 persons on Wednesday.

Among the 257 Nigerians received were 152 adults females, 82 adult males, 9 children and 14 infants.

4. Reports say a former Kano State governor, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters are in talks to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to either the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, or the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP.

It was observed that members of Kwankwasiyya, a political movement belonging to the former governor, had been holding series of meetings on the issue and that they would soon come up with a stand on the two political parties.

5. At least four people have been reported dead and several injured in a suicide bomb attack on Thursday at Amarwa community of Konduga Local Government Area of Borno.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 2 p.m. when a male suicide bomber infiltrated the village and detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) strapped to his body.

6. Senator Kabiru Gaya representing Kano South, on Thursday revealed what President Muhammadu Buhari would do in his second term in office.

The senator gave an indication that Buhari will be seeking re-election.

7. Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday visited President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf, at the Cedarrest Hospital in Abuja.

Several other top government officials, including the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, have also visited Yusuf at the highly secured hospital.

8. The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Thursday presented the budget for 2018 fiscal year to the tune of N1173, 980, 083, 007.

The budget, which was coined the budget of” Enduring Legacy” has N85bn as recurrent expenditure, while N88bn was budgeted for capital expenditure.

9. The Executive Secretary of Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association (DAPPMA), Olufemi Adewole, on Thursday said the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) lied when it said members of the association owed the government-owned oil firm N26.7bn. According to Adewole, members of DAPPMA had, in the past one month, paid over N90bn for petrol supply but had yet to receive any cargo from the Petroleum Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of NNPC.

10. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists against carrying containers filled with petroleum products on distant journeys.

It also said that it was a traffic offence for motorists to carry petrol in jerry cans while in transit.
