1. No fewer than nineteen people were killed in Ariri Village, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State by suspected herdsmen on Wednesday.
The herdsmen attacked the village at night and shot the victims while they were asleep.
2. One person was seriously injured after the primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, turned bloody in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
Report said some loyalists to one of the aspirants, who is from the family of a popular politician, on sensing that he would lose ticket, ordered his boys to disrupt the exercise at the Ape Aku Stadium.
3. Governor Abdulfath Ahmed of Kwara State was on Thursday in Omu-Aran, affirmed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s delegates as the party’s flag bearer for Kwara South Senatorial District in the 2019 general elections.
Delegates from the seven Local Government Areas of the District, in a well attended Zonal primary held at Irepodun LGA Secretariat in Omu-Aran, unanimously endorsed Ahmed against the incumbent Senator, Rafiu Ibrahim.
4. A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Ogun State and a close associate of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, on Thursday resigned his membership from the party with immediate effect.
Majekodunmi in a statement he personally signed, said he was leaving ADC to return back to his former political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
5. President Muhammadu Buhari last night met behind closed door meeting with eight Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the State House Villa.
The governors, who attended the meeting were: Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Rochas Okorocha (imo), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Sani Bello (Niger), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), and Tanko Almakura (Nasarawa).
6. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC says it has recovered one point six billion naira cash from fraudsters in the third quarter of 2018.
South South Zonal Director of EFCC, Nnaghe Obono-Itam made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on the achievements of the commission in the third quarter of the this year.
7. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has declared 12 states along the River Niger and Benue as worst affected by flood disaster this year, while other states are being monitored.
The Director General of NEMA, Engr. Mustapha Maihaja, who made the disclosure when his agency hosted the monthly meeting of the Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (NEMA), said casualty have been recorded in several Nigerian states following heavy rains that caused the Rivers Niger and Benue to overflow.
8. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that no plan can stop its Saturday’s national conventional to elect its presidential candidate for 2019 national elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the party’s National Working Committee’s meeting held on Thursday in Abuja, said that the convention would be successful in spite of alleged plot by some organisations to disrupt the event scheduled for Oct. 6 and Oct. 7 in Port Harcourt.
9. The Headquarters, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, has refuted reports on social media platforms that eleven cars and two corpses had been recovered from the same pond that the missing immediate past Chief of Administration (Army), Major General Idris M Alkali’s (Rtd) car was found.
It, therefore, urged the general public to disregard news being circulated on the social media, stressing that it was the handiwork of the fifth columnists.
10. In sport, Arsenal have gone top of Group E in the Europa League, after they crushed Qarabag 3-0 on Thursday.
Arsenal are top with six points with a better goals difference than Sporting CP.
