1. The Police in Benue on Thursday said a police officer and two other persons were killed in a gun battle between Shitile militia (Gana Boys) and security operatives in Zaki Biam
The command said the deceased policeman and the two others were confirmed dead at the hospital following gunshot injuries from the gun duel.
2. The faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Chief Cyril Ogodo in Delta State, has threatened to initiate contempt proceedings against the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The party faction warned that anyone who violated the order of the Federal High Court, sitting at Asaba for parties to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit before it by the Ogodo led executive will face the law.
3. Valentine Obienyem, media aide to Peter Obi, running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 election, has insisted that there was no time his principal claimed that he had no house in London.
According to him, Obi bought his first house in London in 1987 before he became governor of Anambra State and were all duly declared.
4. Blessing Onuh-Mark, one of the daughters of immediate past President of the Senate, David Mark, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, two weeks after losing the party’s ticket for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency to her uncle, Johnson Egli Ahubi.
A source hinted our reporter on Tuesday that Mrs. Onuh had since picked the SDP ticket to slug it out in the 2019 general elections with her uncle, Ahubi, and other contenders.
5. The Delta State House of Assembly has suspended the member representing Burutu Constituency II, Hon. Kennedy Daubry for three months.
The suspension followed a motion raised by the Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere and seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi.
6. The lawmaker representing Mkpat Enin in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Otobong Ndem, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He announced his defection when he led a delegation of his supporters on a solidarity visit to APC governorship candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere, at the latter’s country home in Ikot Oboroenyin, Edemaya, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
7. 48 year-old-man, Mallam Ado Abdul has infected his 3-year-old daughter, Adama with HIV after having several rounds of sex with her.
It was gathered that Mallam Ado Abdul who lost his wife last year due to prolonged illness, developed love for his daughter and started sleeping with her.
8. The chairman of the South-east Governors’ Forum and governor of Ebonyi State Chief David Umahi on Thursday denied rejecting his appointment as the South east campaign coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Alahaji Atiku Abubakar.
He also denied speculations that he had concluded plans to distribute bags of Abakaliki Rice branded with campaign pictures of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of Christmas and New year celebrations.
9. Senate Thursday resolved to probe the alleged illicit and excessive charges by the commercial banks imposed on their customers.
The upper chamber also mandated committees on banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions and Finance to summon the Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele to appear before it for explanation.
10. Another Nollywood actor, Ola Omonitan also known as Ajimajasan is dead
The veteran Yoruba actor died in the early hours of Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the age of 80.
