1. President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed when he will present the 2019 budget to the National Assembly.
Buhari disclosed that the budget will be presented on Wednesday next week, barring any last minute change.
2. The Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), has joined the indefinite strike declared by the national body on Wednesday.
Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim, ASUP Chairman, Kaduna Polytechnic chapter, said that the chapter totally complied with the directive of the national body.
3. The Kogi State Police command has banned the use of fireworks during this festive season.
Commissioner of Police in the State, Ali Janga, in a statement through the command’s Public Relation Officer, ASP William Aya, called on parents to caution their wards as the Police were determined to deal decisively with anybody that want to cause disturbance of public peace.
4. The General Overseer of the Bible Christian Crusade Mission (BCCM), Pastor Joseph Okoro has been kidnapped. Pastor Okoro was kidnapped on Wednesday night in the Church by unknown gunmen.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident, which occurred at about 8;45 pm Wednesday night at the Church Headquarters located at 55 Webber Street, Calabar-South LGA, took members unaware.
5. The Lagos State Government has warned the residents of Oshodi-Isolo to desist from the reported attacks on officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), saying appropriate sanctions are being lined up for anyone caught in the act henceforth.
This is following the killing of about 18 LASTMA officers in various incidents this year alone.
6. The bill to return Nigeria to the Parliamentary system of government passed its first reading at plenary on Thursday.
About 71 members of the House of Representatives sponsored the billed in an obvious move to restructure the country.
7. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has formalised the substitution of its 2019 Presidential Candidate’s running mate, Dr Mohammed Junaid with Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, who is the National Secretary of the party.
SDP National Publicity Secretary, Alfa Mohammed, who gave the confirmation to NAN on Thursday, said that the substitution was done long ago.
8. A founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, and elder statesman, Tanko Yakasai, has backed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.
The 92-year-old politician spoke in Abuja, on Thursday, at the launch of a book entitled ‘The Coming Revolution: A Manifesto for National Greatness,” authored by Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher.
9. The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, postponed its plan to launch the Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s governorship election campaign over insecurity problem.
The campaign was scheduled to hold in Kosubosu, the headquarters of the Baruten Local Government Area of the state, before the abrupt cancellation.
10. The President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Samson Ayokunle, has dismissed as fake news the report in some online media platforms that the umbrella Christian body has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for second term in office.
Ayokunle made the dismissal on Thursday in a statement signed by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, his Special Assistant, Media & Communications.
