1. Wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hajia Aishat Buhari, has replied Dame Patience Jonathan who had told Nigerian women not to vote for Buhari as she wouldn’t want her husband to go to jail. Mrs Buhari told the First Lady not to be afraid as Nigerians only want a change and a departure from how the country is presently being run.
2. Scores were on Thursday killed when hundreds of suspected Boko Haram insurgents reportedly invaded Fuyi, Fatakol and other communities around Cameroon border including Kala Balge and Gamboru Ngala Local Government Areas of Borno state, leaving dozens of people dead.
3. Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka yesterday raised a fresh alarm over alleged plans to assassinate him before the March 28 general elections. Speaking through the media officer of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Barr. Ike Maximus Ugwuoke, expressed fear that the President and his supporters were planning to assassinate him before next week elections.
4. The IG of Police, Suleiman Abba, on Thursday advised Nigerians to return to their houses after voting and avoid staying after casting their votes as that could make them to work against the law. Abba was speaking at a briefing organised by INEC with accredited observers for the 2015 general election.
5. The 2015 National Common Entrance Examinations into secondary schools earlier scheduled for March 21 has been postponed till April 25. The shift was necessitated by the coming elections.
6. Senate President, David Mark on Thursday visited the bereaved Egba community in Agatu LGA where he condemned the attack on the people by suspected herdsmen. Mark assured the people that the government will deal decisively with the perpetrators of the act.
7. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has cautioned the Federal Government against withdrawing the security details of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Jega due to his insistence on the use of card readers in the coming elections. MURIC said that the whole world was watching Nigeria as it moves to conduct its elections next week.
8. The All Progressives Congress, APC, Thursday raised a fresh alarm over a renewed plot by sympathizers of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to indict its leaders. The indictment was suspected to be on money laundering issue.
9. Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has avowed that some power grabbers were working to ruin Nigeria’s democratic process. Soyinka had made the claim during an interview with SaharaTV, stating that the plan was built around the establishment of an interim government.
10. Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State have warned the State Police Command to desist from arresting and intimidating their party members. They gave the warning when thousands of party members protested to the Rivers state Government House and then to the Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
