1. President- Elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has said that President Jonathan’s acceptance of defeat helped to avert crisis that would have followed the general elections. He said this while receiving the Nigerien President, Issoufou Mahamadou on Thursday in Abuja.

2. Reacting to calls from different quarters as well as prominent members of the PDP that they resign , members of the National Working Committee of the PDP have said nothing will make them to give up their positions. They made their position known after a closed-door meeting with President Jonathan. The Acting Chairman, Uche Secondus spoke on behalf of other members.

3. Report says suspected gunmen have abducted the mother of the House of Representatives-elect for Buruku Federal Constituency in Benue State, Orker Jev. The incident occurred at Mbaya, Tombo in Buruku LGA on Wednesday.

4. A Nigerian who identified himself as Sunday Iwalaiye has asked the management of Yale University to withdraw the Honorary Degree it bestowed on Minister of Finance and Coordinator of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on May 15th, saying the Minister never deserved such an award. His petition to the University was supported by many Nigerians who have reacted in support of his request posted on a website. His argument is that the nation’s economy made no positive impact under Okonjo Iweala’s watch.

5. Following the ongoing fight between transport workers and Hausa traders in Ado – Ekiti as well as other security concerns, the Ekiti State government has imposed a 6-6 curfew on the state capital. The governor, Ayodele Fayose made this public while addressing the Hausa Community at Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti.

6. Member, House of Representatives, and former gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in Ekiti State, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele yesterday officially dumped the Labour Party for the All Progressives Congress (APC). His defection was announced on Thursday during plenary.

7. First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has promised to support the incoming First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari and her project once her husband assumes office. The President’s wife made this pledge at the inauguration of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association Skills Acquisition Centre, in Abuja on Thursday.

8. Fuel crisis is now at its peak in many states, especially in Abuja and Lagos as a litre of PMS now sells for N200 and N250 at the black market, while the few available filling stations now sell between N150 and N160.

9. Electricity workers on Thursday in Abuja stormed the BPE office in protest of the unpaid severance allowance to the over 1000 workers of the defunct PHCN.

10. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has faulted the emergence of Zamfara State governor, Abdulaziz Yari, as the NGF chairman, saying the process followed in his election was wrong and unconstitutional.
