1. James Faleke, running mate to the late APC governorship candidate, Prince Audu Abubakar in Kogi inconclusive election has asked INEC to declare him Governor of the state, blaming the commission for declaring the election inconclusive and at the same time calling for a fresh primary. He said no new candidate can share in the votes already gotten by him and Audu.
2. Relatively, the PDP has threatened to take legal action against INEC if it does not declare its candidate in the inconclusive Kogi election, Idris Wada, winner of the election. In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, the party argued that the death of Prince Audu means that the APC has no candidate that could even proceed to INEC’s scheduled supplementary election.
3. Following the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country, the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, Oyo and Osun field office has sealed off about 50 fuel stations in Ibadan and environs for hoarding and selling the product above government approved N87 price.
4. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said he was ready to face the music if he is linked with any suspicious deal in the state. He charged auditors from the office of the Auditor General of the State on Thursday to call out his name if they discover any deal anywhere, involving his office.
5. The commencement of the trial of a former Minister of Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe, was on Thursday stalled following Federal Government’s insistence that the four counts of N70m bribery and false assets declaration preferred against him be amended.
6. Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Thursday struck out the case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, against one time governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva. The case was struck out over abuse of court processes.
7. Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, again dismissed the application by the Federal Government that former NSA, Sambo Dasuki be made to appear in court in all his trial period. Ademola dismissed the application for being frivolous, unwarranted and lacking in merit.
8. The IG of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, has complained that the Police was facing financial challenges as its budget was not even enough to get stationery for all police formations across the country. Arase who emphasised on the need to increase budget allocated to the Police told the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs in Abuja on Thursday.
9. Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka on Friday denied paying tribute to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on November 25, 2015 as widely reported on the social media. Soyinka in a statement to the media said he was not in any way connected with the publication that was forwarded to him regarding the tribute.
10. Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has stated that he was not behind the fine on MTN as alleged by some people, also dismissing reports that he has interest interest in Etisalat Nigeria Plc. This was contained in a statemenr he issued on Thursday through his media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye. The governor tagged the reports as malicious.
