1. Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos Thursday ordered that a domiciliary account of ex-first lady, Patience Jonathan, at Skye Bank Plc containing $5.9million be unfrozen because she was not a party to the initial case that led to the freezing of the account.

2. A former Senator and Presidential aide, Florence Ita-Giwa, has disclosed she will today dump the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to her, she has been idle for over one year in the PDP, saying she will be joining her contemporaries in the APC.

3. The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday offered $100m in currency forwards, to be settled within 60 days. The Naira, however, recorded a slight gain against the United States dollar, rising from 398/dollar on Wednesday to 397/dollar on Thursday.

4. Report says the peace meeting convened by former President, Goodluck Jonathan to end the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday yielded no result as the National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff walked out of the meeting amid further disagreement.

5. There was confusion at the Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday following an by some members to impeach the speaker, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu. Mrs. Maduagwu on sensing the intention of her colleagues quickly took the mace, the symbol of authority of the legislative house and left the Assembly.

6. The Nigeria Senate Thursday resolved to probe impersonators of Presidential Amnesty Programme beneficiaries in various schools abroad. In a sponsored motion by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (PDP), Delta North Senatorial district, the red Chambers wondered how some names came into the Amnesty Programme and were not from Niger Delta areas, thus compounding the challenges of funds.

7. The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, while reacting to his face-off with former Governor Kayode Fayemi on Thursday recalled how APC national leader, Bola Tinubu begged him to work for Fayemi in 2012. He also stated that he will be president of Nigeria someday, and that he was a better leader than President Muhammadu Buhari.

8. The Super Eagles are now the fifth best team in African and 40th in the world. The team moved a place up in the monthly ranking announced on Thursday morning as it was 41st in the last ranking.

9. Former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has blamed former Nigeria’s leaders for the problems currently facing the country. Oshiomhole was speaking at the first Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia Memorial lecture, tagged, “Nation Building and Development in Nigeria,” organised by the University of Abuja. The former NLC President noted that the elites who supervised the restructuring of Nigeria from three regions to 37 states were responsible for Nigeria’s problems.

10. The Nigerian mission in South Africa has disclosed that a Nigerian in Polokwane, Limpopo Province was on Thursday killed in a fresh xenophobic attack. The High Commissioner, Ambassador Martins Cobham said that while one Nigerian was killed, four others were hospitalised during a mob attack on foreigners.
