Nigerian man smashes mother’s head in the US

A 31-year-old Nigerian, Daniel Basor Kadima has been charged with murder, after his mother’s corpse was discovered in her ( deceased) Regency Park apartment in Texas USA.

The deceased, Dr Hauwa Esther Kadima, 61, was discovered dead in her apartment on July 28 after officers received a distress call from her son, Daniel Basor Kadima, 31, saying he suspects there is a dead body in her apartment.

According to a police warrant, Daniel on the fateful day called 911 at about 9 a.m. to report the death of somebody in the deceased’s apartment. When asked the last time he saw the deceased, he was said to have responded “yesterday.”

The police warrant added that Daniel identified himself but did not say the victim’s name or the connection between them.

Daniel when further asked about the incident, said “My duty is just to call in and let you know,” the police warrant disclosed.

Following the distress call, officers rushed to the apartment and found Hauwa Kadima lying on the floor next to a broken wooden chair.

Initial autopsy findings showed she had fractures to her skull, with laceration of the brain because of blunt impact to the head. The police alleged that the 31-year-old suspect had beaten the deceased to death using the chair.

The suspect was arrested following the autopsy report and is been held in the Gregg County Jail with his total bond set at $100,005,500.

In a sworn affidavit filed in the Gregg County District Clerk’s Office, Daniel’s ex-wife recounted past assaults and abuse from him, including four years ago when he allegedly twisted her head backwards and in the process broke one of her teeth and busting her lip.

Daniel’s wife added that he would also take her keys and lock her outside their apartment, adding that he restrained her when she wanted to move out of the house.

“He eventually had a mental breakdown and was arrested multiple times,” the ex-wfe said in the affidavit. “He was committed to a mental health facility.”

Reacting to Hauwa’s death, her friends described her as a devout Christian who was well-educated with degrees from Wheaton College, adding that she had a vision for her Nigeria.

“She had a passion for wanting to start a school back in her hometown. She didn’t go back to fulfill her dream,” Rev. Mary Collier says.
