2010 was actually a good year when Nigeria Idol hit the airwaves and in 2011, Optima Media Group (OMG), the executive producers of the dubbed most watched music reality TV show, upped the ante with the inclusion of showbiz maverick, CharlyBoy, as one of the judges.
Aside the emerging fact that the production team gave Nigerian Idol the needed face last year, it’s no doubt that the antics, craze and creativity that were showcased in the last edition of the show, earned Nigeria’s version of the world’s biggest reality TV show, more viewership than ever.
However, the latest gist making the rounds has it that Nigerian Idol is in trouble waters!
Apart from the early disagreement that saw some people quitting the show, like South Africans Lilias and Peters, the husband and wife who led the production team of last season who have parted ways with OMG, the producers of Nigerian Idol, many other crew have left the show in disagreement.
DailyPost had exclusively gathered that while some old crew have left in obvious angst , Jeffrey Daniel and Yinka Davis, the two judges from the first and second season, are yet to have their contract papers signed. Dailypost has also gathered that, if situation remained tensed as it is, Jeffrey may be on his way out of Nigerian Idol!
Besides the departure of capable hands, a bird in the know squealed that the once sweet romance between some top executives of Etisalat and OMG has gone sour, as they are said to be wondering whether the fund released for the productions is being used judiciously.
Although, Dailypost has learnt that OMG is rooting for in-house production crew for the new season of Nigerian Idol that will hit the silver screen next year, things seem to be going awry the in the producer’s plan.
