Some Nigerian clubs have received a share of N240million, recovered by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), from an unnamed television broadcast agent.

According to AfricanFootball, the money was paid into the Club Owners’ Association’s account.

The EFCC is also reportedly ready to recover another N100million from the TV broadcast agent, as well as a former sponsor of the league.

It is understood that some of the clubs that will benefit from these monies, are those who featured in the now defunct Nigeria Premier League (NPL).

Some principal executives during the NPL era, will also receive a share of the recovered funds.

Television rights sales during the NPL era were shrouded in controversies, amid allegations of brazen fraud. It was alleged that the league got less than 10% of the broadcast cash over a period of six years.
