The All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State has rejected in totality the result of the elections of Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency in the state which saw the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, re-elected member for a fourth term.
Dogara, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party who was declared winner at the Zwall Collation Center, in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State by Prof. Mahmood Abdulhamid, polled a total of 73,609 to defeat his closest rival, Abubabakar Kantana of the APC – 50, 708 votes.
Addressing a press conference at the APC Secretariat in Bauchi Monday, the State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Ahmed Uba Nana, called for the cancellation of the results, alleging that it was marred by several irregularities.
He said: “As far as the APC is concerned, there was no election, especially the results of Bogoro local government area and we will not accept the results. The elections were marred by irregularities and malpractices. Elections took place in many Polling Units with the use of Card Readers.
“APC members were brutalized, beaten to a state of coma, some were locked for hours, card readers were smashed and some were even set ablaze. People disguised as security agents and attacked our people,” he said.
Nana who addressed the Press in company of the APC state executive and the Commissioners from Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government areas of the state called for the total cancellation of the results and the conduct of new elections.
“We call on INEC to declare the elections there as inconclusive. We call on all relevant agencies to do all things possible to address our demands because, if we are pushed to the wall, we will be left with no choice but to take the last option,” he warned.
