Nigerian Bishops should not be wolves – Gov. Obiano

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has admonished Nigerian bishops not to be wolves but to promote love among their congregation.

Governor Obiano speaking at the All Saints Anglican Church Cathedral, Onitsha, during the consecration of four new bishops of the Anglican Communion, urged clerics to be purposeful leaders of their various religious denominations by showing love, quality leadership, accountability as well as mercy to their congregation.

Obiano said: “Now the spirit of most Nigerians are down because of hardship in the country; I urge Nigerian bishops, especially these newly ordained ones, not to be wolfs but leaders that will show love, directions and mercy to their various congregation.

” They should see the people of other denominations as brothers and sisters, let them show God-kind love to everybody irrespective of status and tribe.”

Also present was the primate of Anglican Communion in Nigeria, Most Revered Nicholas Okoh, who in his speech urged Christians to discard their earlier beliefs that politics is a dirty game,while lamenting growing security challenges in the country.

He advised them to be active in politics in order to make it decent.

According to him, “It is time for Christians in the country make it a matter of priority to register, collect their voters cards and make sure they vote during elections.

“They should also join political parties and play active roles.”
