Nigeria’s Under-23 team handler to the just concluded Rio Olympics in Brazil, Samson Siasia has expressed disappointment at Nigerian billionaires for turning their backs on the team during preparations in Atlanta, USA and in Brazil during the games.
Recall that Japanese surgeon, Dr. Katsuya Takasu, gave the team a gift of $390,000 to help them settle their bills in Brazil.
Siasia told the BBC, “This man came to our aid when we were in trouble. I must thank him. He is a wonderful human being.
“Where were our billionaires, when they must have heard that the team were in trouble?”
He added that the report credited to the Nigerian Football Federation’s Integrity Officer, Dr Christian Emeruwa on Dr Takasu, suggesting that he (Takasu) could be associated with match-fixing, is nonsense.
Siasia added, “He should have done a better job of checking him out.”
