Nigerian Air Force sets up base in Osun, gives reason

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar says the military will redouble its efforts to tackle the various security challenges in the country.

Abubakar made the remarks during the inauguration of projects at Nigerian Air Force 209 Quick Response Group base in Ipetu-Ijesha, Osun,on Thursday.

The projects inaugurated include: a 10 blocks of bedroom flats and primary school classrooms.

The CAS explained that the evolving security environment in the country necessitated the expansion of the Nigerian Air Force base to provide swift responses to security emergencies.

”The evolving security environment in the country characterised by the insurgency in the North-East, banditry in parts of the North-West and farmers/herders clashes in the middle belt region”, NAF quoted him as saying.

Other cases he identified were kidnapping, armed robbery and other vices across the country.

Abubakar said the air force base located in Ipetu-Ijesha with more than 700 trained personnel was established to provide prompt response to emerging security challenges in the southwestern part of the country.

Abubakar said the commitment and loyalty of the force would continue to be to the nation and the Federal Government.

”We thank President Muhammadu Buhari who, in spite of the harsh economic realities has continued to avail us with necessary requirements to sustain our operations.

“We will ensure the security of our people and uphold the democratic ideals for the progress and prosperity of our fatherland, while also ensuring that available resources are judiciously used,” he said.
