Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has hailed the Super Eagles for qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

Atiku vowed to continue to support Gernot Rohr’s men, even if it means braving the cold climate in Russia next year.

He tweeted immediately after the game: “They say Russia is cold. We are still coming! Haha! Congratulations to the Super Eagles and all Nigerians!”

Alex Iwobi’s 73rd minute strike, means that Nigeria became the first African country to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

The Eagles now have 13 points at the top of Group and an unassailable six-point lead ahead of Zambia, with one round of games left.

They join other countries like Brazil, Spain, Mexico, England, Germany, Iran, South Korea, etc. who have also booked their places at next year’s tournament.
