There are indications that Daniel Akpeyi, could displace Ikechukwu Ezenwa in goal for Nigeria, when they play Zambia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Saturday in Uyo.
Akpeyi missed the last two qualifying games home and away to Cameroon due to injury.
In his absence, Ezenwa manned the posts and conceded only one goal in Yaounde, via a penalty kick.
However, the Chippa United goalkeeper impressed in training on Tuesday, as he made a series of fine saves, drawing applause from the excited fans that turned up to watch the Super Eagles train.
Akpeyi, who has not always been a regular for his South African club this season, even saved a penalty from Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa.
It remains to be seen if Gernot Rohr, will throw the 31-year-old into the fray against Chipolopolo or sticks with Ezenwa.
