Nigeria vs Tunisia: Iwobi reacts as Super Eagles finish third at AFCON 2019

Super Eagles playmaker, Alex Iwobi, has expressed his happiness at winning a bronze medal, at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria finished in third place, following a 1-0 win over Tunisia on Wednesday night, with Odion Ighalo netting the winner in the first half.

With his appearance against the Carthage Eagles, the Arsenal star featured in all seven matches the Eagles played in Egypt.

“It is a great achievement considering the quality of the 24 teams, especially as our team is very young.

“I am sure we are happy with this medal, hopefully, we can do better in the next Africa Cup of Nations,” Iwobi said in the mixed zone after the game.

On his message to Nigeria fans, Iwobi said: “Thank you for their support, we always want to do them proud, may they continue to always support us because we feel the love they show us, we always do our best for them.”

Iwobi also admitted that Algeria were the toughest opponents the Super Eagles faced at the Africa Cup of Nations.

“For me, it is a hard one to say considering the quality even in the group stage against Guinea, Burundi and Madagascar, but the toughest one is the team that knocked us out, Algeria. Maybe it was against them because we were not able to win,” he added.
