Spanish football club, Villarreal has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for booking a place in the African Cup of Nations, AFCON, 2019 semi-finals.
This was as the club congratulated Samuel Chukwueze for his great performance during the Super Eagles quarter-final match against Bafana Bafana of South Africa, yesterday.
Chukwueze gave the Super Eagles a 1-0 lead before the break following an assist from Alex Iwobi.
However, South Africa levelled in the second half, thanks to Video Assistant Referee’s (VAR) decision.
With the match looking to head into extra time, William Troost-Ekong forced the ball over the line in the final minute of play.
Reacting to Super Eagles’ victory, Villarreal FC congratulated the team for booking a place in the African Cup of Nations, AFCON, semi Finals.
In its verified Twitter handle, the Spanish club wrote: “Congratulations to @chukwueze_8 for his goal and great performance as @NGSuperEagles 🇳🇬 secured their place on the #TotalAFCON2019 semi-finals!”
