Nigeria vs South Africa: What Moses said about AFCON 2019 quarter-final match

Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon, has insisted that their quarter-final clash against South Africa at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, is about revenge.

Both teams are familiar foes, having played each other during the AFCON qualifying series.

Bafana Bafana beat Nigeria 2-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, before denying them victory in a 1-1 draw in Johannesburg.

But Moses, speaking to SportingLife, made it clear his focus was on payback and to qualify Gernot Rohr’s side for the last four.

The Levante winger said: “This is a game we have to play with all that we have.

“We know it will be a very tough game because we are going to face a team we know very well. We have played a lot of games together in recent years and we want to beat them this term.

“The home loss in Uyo was very embarrassing but we have moved on from that loss and are eager to pay them back after they escaped defeat at home in the reverse fixture of the 2019 AFCON qualifier.”
