Nigeria vs Libya: Rohr reveals why Jamilu Collins will start

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has explained why Jamilu Collins will likely start against Libya, in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

The Paderborn SC defender was handed his second invite after last month’s maiden call-up and has impressed Rohr.

Despite the availability of first-choice Brian Idowu and Ola Aina, the German tactician spoke highly of the 24-year-old in Thursday’s pre-match conference.

“Collins is interesting for us. He has the qualities to play very well for us.

“Perhaps he will start the game.

“It is not just because he has a good left foot. He has a good physique. He is quick, he can go forward and he is defensively strong.

“I saw him play for Paderborn when they beat Cologne 5-3 and he did very well.

“Two, three years ago, Paderborn were in the Bundesliga and they now want to come back. They have a really strong team.

“What I also saw of him before the Seychelles game was good, but he had a little injury, he wasn’t 100% to start the game.”

“He started the game in Monrovia against Liberia and he was good,” Rohr said according to Goal.
