Former Nigeria winger, Tijani Babangida, has urged the Super Eagles to concentrate on winning their 2nd Leg 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying clash against Libya on Tuesday following their 4-0 victory over the North Africans at the weekend.
Three goals from Changchun Yatai star, Odion Ighalo, and a goal from Kalu Uche, ensured that the Super Eagles took all three points in Uyo.
Babangida, who hailed Gernot Rohr’s men for their outstanding performances against Libya, warned them that Nigeria cannot afford to miss out again on the 2019 African Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon.
“It was a good performance from the Super Eagles against Libya. They fought really hard against a tough opposition and I want to commend them for their efforts,” Babangida told CSN.
“The Libyans gave us a good fight, but our players did well to weather the storm which was quite commendable.
“Now, they must concentrate on the next game on Tuesday. I hope we can win that as well to improve our chances of qualifying for the AFCON.
“It’s a shame that we have failed to qualify for the last two editions of the competition and we can’t afford to miss out again.”
