Argentina striker, Sergio Aguero, has made a passionate plea to the Super Eagles, to keep their World Cup hopes alive by beating Iceland when both teams clash today in a Group D game.
Aguero and his team-mates are on the brink of an early exit from the tournament, following a 3-0 thrashing in the hands of Croatia on Thursday.
The result leaves the Albiceleste with just one point from their opening two fixtures.
A win for Nigeria today against Iceland will, however, keep their hopes of qualifying alive.
“(The defeat against Croatia) It makes me sad and angry but there’s another chance. We depend on others. We did everything we could, but now let’s hope for a miracle or something like that.
“We have to wait on Nigeria to do us a favour against Iceland and then try to beat them when we play them in our last group game,” Aguero told reporters in the mixed zone.
Argentina clash with Nigeria in their final group game on June 26.
