Nigeria vs England: Super Eagles lose 2-1 at Wembley

Writer's picture: AdminAdmin

Gary Cahill and Harry Kane scored for England, as they defeated Nigeria 2-1 in an international friendly played at Wembley on Saturday.

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, was able to name a very strong line-up for the match, with captain John Mikel Obi back after a long hiatus.

However it was Mikel Obi’s former team-mate at Chelsea that opened scoring.

Cahill rose highest to head Ashley Young’s corner past Francis Uzoho. Kane doubled their lead just before the break, drilling in a low effort.

Nigeria upped their ante after the break, with Iwobi pulling one back after Odion Ighalo’s effort came off the post.

The Eagles will take on Czech Republic in their final warm up game on June 6.
