Former Nigeria striker, Victor Ikpeba, has warned supporters not to insult players and coaches of the Super Eagles, following their 2-0 defeat to Croatia in their opening Group D match on Saturday night.

Oghenekaro Etebo’s own goal and a Luka Modric penalty, ensured that Gernot Rohr’s men began the tournament on a bad note.

But Ikpeba, writing on his verified Twitter account, insisted the Eagles are not out yet.

“Criticism is part of football. But our people should desist from insulting our players and coaches.

“We are not out of the World Cup yet,” he tweeted.

Nigeria take on Iceland in their next group game on Friday, needing to win to remain in the competition.
