Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has said he encouraged his team not to give up at half time, during their 3-2 win over Cameroon on Saturday.
Odion Ighalo opened scoring in the 19th minute of their Round of 16 clash at the Africa Cup of Nations in Alexandria.
The Indomitable Lions fought back to lead 2-1 before the break, thanks to goals from Stephane Bahoken and Clinton N’Jie.
However, Nigeria turned it around with two quickfire goals from Ighalo and Alex Iwobi.
Rohr, speaking during his press conference after the game, revealed what he told his men when they were behind in the game.
“I’m happy with the victory.
“We conceded through a lack of concentration and at half time, we spoke about never giving up,” the German said.
Rohr also urged the Eagles to remain humble ahead of the quarter-finals.
“We are focused on the next game and we have to recover. We have to stay humble which was the lesson from the defeat to Madagascar,” he added.
