Bukola Saraki, immediate past Senate President has charged the Super Eagles to win in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt.
Saraki in a message on his Twitter page, urged the players to defeat the Swallows of Burundi in thier encounter today.
According to him, Super Eagles remain a beacon of unity to Nigeria.
Saraki wrote: “As Super Eagles take on Swallows of Burundi today, I wish all the players and coaching staff a successful tournament.
“The Super Eagles remain a beacon for Nigerian unity and continue to show us what we can achieve as a nation when we all work together for a common goal.”
Super Eagles will on Saturday play the Group B opener against Burundi at 6pm West African time at the Alexandria stadium in Egypt.
DAILY POST had reported that Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, had admitted the morale of his team will drop, if they lose their Africa Cup of Nations opening fixture against Burundi.
Rohr, addressing the media on Friday, says a win against the debutants will boost confidence in his squad.
The three-time African champions will take on the Central African nation for the first time in an international outing, in their Group B opener at the Alexandria Stadium on Saturday.
