Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba has revealed why he was disappointed with the Super Eagles, following their 2-1 loss to Argentina in the 2018 World Cup fixture played on Tuesday night at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.
Messi had put his side ahead with a 14 minutes strike.
But Victor Moses levelled up for the Eagles through a penalty kick six minutes into the second half.
However, Rojo gave the La Albiceleste their first win of the tournament, with a clinical finish less than 10 minutes to the final whistle.
Drogba, however, said he was saddened because the Eagles would have “killed” the game in the second half against the La Albiceleste through former Watford striker, Odion Ighalo.
”Nigeria gave everything. But I’m disappointed because they did have the chances to score and kill the game through Ighalo,” Drogba told BBC Sport.
“They will have some regrets about the first game they played against Croatia but against Iceland and Argentina, we saw the real Nigeria.”
The defeat to Argentina means Nigeria has been eliminated from the ongoing World Cup in Russia.
