Barcelona star, Lionel Messi has described Argentina’s dramatic 2-1 win over Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup as ‘a huge release and relief’.

Messi had put his side ahead with a 14 minutes strike.

But Victor Moses levelled up for the Eagles through a penalty kick six minutes into the second half.

However, Rojo gave the La Albiceleste their first win of the tournament with a clinical finish less than 10 mins to the final whistle.

“We have suffered a lot, it was a difficult situation,” Messi told reporters after the game.

“It was a huge release and relief for all of us after winning Nigeria.

“We have watched every France game – we have watched every game of this World Cup. France are a very good side with skilled players, very fast players who can really make a difference.”

Messi will hope to lead Argentina to victory when they clash with France on Saturday in the round of 16.
