Super Eagles striker, Odion Igahlo says he takes full responsibility for the Nigeria’s loss against Argentina.
A 2-1 loss to Argentina in the last group D game at Saint Petersburg stadium sent the team out of the tournament.
Argentina were leading 1-0 at half-time, before a Victor Moses penalty in the second half drew Nigeria level.
If the game had stayed at 1-1, Argentina and Messi would have been dumped out of the World Cup.
Messi fired Argentina in front in the first half and his team-mates replied in the second when Marcos Rojo scored a dramatic 86th minute winner.
But reacting, Igalo said, ‘’I Apologise to Nigeria, I apologise to my team mates, I take responsibility for this game because if I had taken those chances I had, that would have made it a different ball game now ,but that is football and life has to continue.
‘’It’s a sad day for me, the boys and the country because we went out in a bad manner and we deserve more in the game.
‘’We had a penalty in the game and another one which the referee did not give.
‘’I missed a couple of chances that would have finished the game but that’s football because sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.”
