Argentine coach, Jorge Sampaoli, asked Lionel Messi for his opinion, before making his final substitution in their 2-1 win over Nigeria on Tuesday.
Marcos Rojo struck the winner with four minutes remaining, after Victor Moses had cancelled out Lionel Messi’s opener, to book the South Americans’ place in the last 16.
Sampaoli had one substitution at his disposal as the game entered its final 10 minutes and according to the UK Mirror, he asked Messi his views.
The Argentina boss reportedly asked if Messi agreed he should bring on Sergio Aguero as they chased a late goal.
The Barcelona superstar gave the green light and the Manchester City striker replaced Nicolas Tagliafico for the closing stages.
Albiceleste will take on France in the next round on Saturday.
