Nigeria Vs Algeria: How Buhari’s aide reacted to Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to Desert Foxes

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Ahmad Bashir, has reacted to Super Eagles failure to qualify for the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, final in Egypt.

Bashir commended the Super Eagles for representing Nigeria and taking the country “far” in the ongoing tournament.

In a tweet, the Presidential assured the Super Eagles of continuous support.

“The #AFCON2019 is over for us. Football is not fair at all. Anyways, well done Super Eagles, you have done very well, and you made us very proud. Thank you for representing us and thank you for taking the Green White Green flag that far. We will always support you! #ALGNGA!,” he tweeted.

Algeria qualified for the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, following a 2-1 win over Nigeria on Sunday.

The Desert Foxes took the lead in the first half, thanks a William Troost-Ekong own goal.

The Super Eagles levelled in the second half, after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decision, with Odion Ighalo stroking home the penalty.

With the match heading into extra time, Riyad Mahrez stepped up and spanked a free-kick past Daniel Akpeyi, to send his side into the final.

They will take on Senegal in the final on Friday, July 19.

Nigeria face Tunisia in the third-place playoff on Wednesday, July 17.
