Super Eagles vice-captain, Ahmed Musa has finally reacted after his side failed to qualify for this year’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, final in Egypt.
Algeria qualified for the final of the Africa Cup of Nations following a 2-1 win over Nigeria on Sunday in the semi-final encounter played at the Cairo International Stadium.
The North Africans took the lead in the first half courtesy of a William Troost-Ekong own goal.
The Super Eagles levelled in the second half, after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decision, with Odion Ighalo striking home the penalty.
With the match heading into extra time, Riyad Mahrez stepped up and spanked a free-kick past Daniel Akpeyi to send his side into the final.
Reacting, Musa, on his verified Twitter handled on Monday morning, thanked Nigerians and well-wishers for their support so far.
The former Leicester City forward tweeted: “This is to say a massive thank you to all our supporters & well wishers during this journey.
“Not the result we wanted but we gave it our best shot. We keep fighting till the end. Proud of you mates.🇳🇬 #NAIJA.”
Nigeria will now tackle Tunisia for the third-place match on Wednesday.
