The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed Cote d’Ivoire have been granted permission to host the AFCON 2017 qualifiers in the country.

General secretary of the federation, Sanusi Mohammed, revealed this in an exclusive chat with AfricanFootball.

“I can confirm to you that Sierra Leone have requested to play their AFCON qualifiers in our country,” he said.

“And we have taken the request to the ministry of health who have given their blessings that the Leone Stars are free to come and play in Nigeria.

“We have offered the Lagos or Port Harcourt stadium for the matches, so it’s up to them to choose where they would prefer.”

Sierra Leone are unable to host football matches, because the World Health Organisation (WHO), has not officially given the country a clean bill of health, following the outbreak of Ebola.

Their first game in Nigeria will be played on September against Cote d’Ivoire.
