Nigeria’s U-23 team to leave for Congo on Thursday


Ahead of the second leg of the Africa U-23 Championship qualifier against Congo, Nigeria’s U-23 team will leave for Pointe-Noire on Thursday.

Samson Siasia’s boys defeated their Congolese counterparts 2-1 in the first leg of the tie, thanks to Junior Ajayi’s second-half brace.

The Shooting Stars forward scored two quick goals in the 47th and 51st minutes, before Moise Kounkou pulled one back for Claude Leroy’s team.

Kingsley Sokari has already joined up with the squad, while the duo of Osmanlispor forward Umar Aminu and Abdullahi Shehu from Uniao da Madeira are expected in camp Tuesday night.

The winner of the tie, will qualify for the Africa U-23 Championship in Senegal, which will serve as the final qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
