Nigeria’s Odoh wins West African Golf Tour

Nigeria’s Andrew Odoh, with an Even Par, on Sunday won the West African Golf Tour (WAGT) after removing his Ghanaian counterparts Vincent Torgah and Amos Korblah.

The four days tour which held at the IBB Golf and Country Club Abuja, kicked off on Feb. 24.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the finals saw Odoh, Torgah and Korblah drew at +2 each at regular time of four hours 15 minutes for holes 18.

Odoh told NAN that he felt great to emerge winner of the maiden edition of the game and a good reason to come back from South Africa to play.

“I think I needed to give it my best shot to prove that we have actually cemented our place in West Africa and Central Africa in terms of golf.

“This kind of support and the encouragement is really important; obviously WAGT has done a great job to put up this event and I am happy to be the inaugural winner.

“Since it is an annual event, as long as I am injury free you will see more of me,’’ the champion said.

Meanwhile, Korblah said that he was happy to emerge second, considering his position at the first day of the game at+20.

“I want to say the tour was well organised and a good turn out and the organisers have done well,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the second edition will hold in March 2, at Smokin Hills of Ilara Morkin, Ondo State. (NAN)
