The nation’s First Lady, Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan finally lights up the first ever Nigerian National Christmas Tree, tagged “Let there be light” in Abuja on Saturday.

She sought for peace, unity and love during this festive season among every ethnic group and religion.

Mrs Jonathan said, “We are witnessing the making of history. Its significance will best be appreciated when we take into account the fact that Christmas is a season of peace, love and hope.

“I urge you all to rededicate yourselves to the pursuit of unity, love, peace and our common goal.”

His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan, while delivering his sermon explained that Christmas has different meanings to different people.

To some, it’s a celebration time while to others, it is a time to share cards and gifts.
