The Dream Team won the 1996 edition of the competition, but were beaten in the final of the 2008 edition in Beijing, China.
Hosts Brazil and defending champions, Mexico, will also be among the 16 teams that will be drawn into four groups.
There is however one spot up for gravs, as Colombia and USA will face each other in a play-off.
