The Super Eagles are now ranked 62nd in the world, after the latest FIFA rankings were published on Thursday.
The latest ranking shows one step up for the former African champions, who are now 11th on the continent.
Cape Verde now leads the continent, ahead of Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Egypt, Congo DR, Congo and Cameroon.
Belgium continues to lead the rankings globally and the top five is completed by Argentina, Spain, Germany and Chile.
The next ranking will be published on April 7.
