Super Eagles of Nigeria maintained their 53rd position in the FIFA rankings released on September 3, 2015.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winners had risen four places to their current spot in August. They also remain 9th on the African continent, with countries like Algeria (19), Cote d’Ivoire (21), Ghana (27), Tunisia (34), Senegal (39) and Cameroon (42) ranked higher.
Their opponents in Saturday’s AFCON 2017 qualifier, Tanzania, are 140th in the world and 41st in Africa.
Globally, Argentina continue to lead the way in first place, ahead of Belgium (2nd) and Germany (3rd).
