Nigeria Red Cross elects new president, renews commitment to victims of insurgency

The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has elected Mr Bolaji Anani as its new President at the just concluded Annual General Meeting in Owerri.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Head of Communications, Mr Nwakpa Okorie, the society also renewed its commitment to providing succour to people affected by both human and natural disasters in the country.

“Today, the humanitarian need in Nigerian is on the increase due to insurgency in the north-east, communal clashes and other nature-induced disasters.

“Our focus is on people affected by insurgency; we have planned and executed several projects, but these supports are not enough as the needs are very enormous.

“Thus, we have launched an appeal to enable us do more.”

Other members of the governing board include National Vice President, Alhaji Abubakar Kende – North-West; National Treasurer – South-West; National Finance and Planning Adviser, Mr Adabson Tanimu Panda -North-Central; and National DM Adviser, Alhaji Adamu Babale.
