The presidency will on Tuesday announce the appointment of AIG Adamu Mohammed as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).

An impeccable source told DAILY POST Monday night that Mohammed, an indigene of Nasarawa state, will take over from outgoing IGP, Ibrahim Idris.

A presidency source had earlier confirmed to NAN that President Muhammadu Buhari had zeroed in on the senior officer.

His elevation means that all Deputy Inspectors-General will retire from service.

Recall that on June 21 2016, Buhari sacked DIGs when he named Idris as the IGP. He succeeded Solomon Arase who retired same day.

Mohammed had served as the Commissioner Of Police in Enugu State. He was one time director of peacekeeping operations of the Force.

He is currently the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone Five, in Benin, Edo State.

Mohammed is also a directing staff member at the National Institute of policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, near Jos, Plateau State.

He was born on November 9, 1961 and enlisted in the police in 1986.

Mohammed, who has a bachelor in geography, is married with children.
